Alan Popowski & Christina Klanica

Bonnie and David A. Klanica of Newtown announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Nicole Klanica, to Alan Joseph Popowski, her high school sweetheart and the son of Susan and Henry S. Popowski, Jr, of Wellington, Fla.

Christina and Alan met while both were students at Newtown High School. They began dating in 2000.

Christina graduated from NHS in 2003. She continued her education at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in psychology and management.

She is employed as a corporate event planner for Covidien.

Alan graduated from NHS in 2002, and then attended Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in financial services, and works as an investment representative with Fidelity Investments.

Christina and Alan, who currently reside in Danbury, are planning an October 2011 wedding.
