What would you like to see happen to alleviate the overcrowded conditions at the high school? Asked at the special Board of Education meeting held at Newtown High School on Monday, February 6, to receive public comment about the high school space needs. The question was asked prior to the meeting.
Christine Crudo: âI envision that we need to find a long-term solution. We need to be careful not to be short sighted or Band-Aid the problem.â
Randy Eckwall: âI havenât made up my mind. We need more information.â
Bob Murray: âIâm a little disappointed they couldnât provide more information in anticipation of this meeting. I donât think thereâs enough information. There has been no discussion about how they arrived at their numbers. How are they going to finance this?â
Joanne Marcinek: âI definitely think the long-term solution is to build a new high school. I like the idea of moving the middle school into the current high school and using Queen Street for municipal purposes.â
Sarah Beier: âWe need something our town can afford and take us into the future. Iâm one of the few who donât have an opinion.â
Joan Piscitelli: âThe Board of Ed needs to give us some information on where they stand. The Board of Ed needs to step up; this has gone on for 15 months.â
