Hockey Team Holds Fundraisers
This fall, the Newtown High School hockey team will resume traditional fundraisers to offset substantial rising costs to participate in the sport they are most passionate about. Each playerâs personal commitment is nearly $2,000 for ice time, travel, and equipment expenses compared to the other varsity sportsâ pay to play fees of approximately $200. The fundraisers are as follows:
Car Wash Saturday, October 6: Berkshire Motors, from 10 am to 2 pm.
Ongoing through November: Fall Clean Up Fundraiser. Homeowners may contact the team to request a free estimate for leaf cleanup at leaf@newtownhockey.com.
The fall clean up was a huge success for the hockey program last year, as residents donated generously in recognition of the hours of well managed labor the team put into cleanup of their properties.
