Adopt From The Pound

The following cats and dogs are among those available for adoption from the Newtown pound:

CALLEY is a beautiful calico female cat. She is spayed and about 5 or 6 years old. Calley had been enjoying a good life in a comfortable home but her owner had to enter a nursing home. Sadly, Calley became neglected and began to experience conditions resembling homelessness. She became somewhat anxious. The result is that she needs a quiet setting. She would do well as an only cat in a quiet home environment. She would need a bit of time to adjust (but not too much) to her new home but after, you’d find her to be gentle, sweet, and inquisitive. While many cats do well with children, Calley probably would not. She could tolerate periods of being alone but would welcome you back in her own feline way. Calley would like you to know that she has 6 toes on her front paws. But she doesn’t sport those big club shaped paws that many 6 toed cats have. Calley’s paws are dainty — well befitting the beautiful lady that she is.

LUCKY is a male Akita mix weighing about 85 pounds. He is mostly black with a white chest and paws and has deep amber eyes. He is about 6 years old. Lucky is a low key dog who would do very well as a companion to an older owner. A senior person or couple would find him quite accommodating. He absolutely loves human attention and affection. He is housebroken. Lucky has been at the shelter for nearly a year and would dearly like to show you just how easily he could fit into your home.

MISTY is a spayed female of mixed breeding. She weighs about 40 to 45 pounds and is two years old. She has a nice black and white coat with some faint black spots on her chest and legs. Misty has amber soulful eyes. She is very timid and needs someone who is both capable and willing to train her. While it is true that she needs the training that would certainly bring out the best in her, it should be emphasized that she is trainable. Her young age, vitality, and intelligence seem to ensure that she could become a valued and sweet companion. Though she has been with the shelter for a year she should not be viewed as a “kennel dog.” Misty has a need for human affection, and will most certainly blossom if exposed to it and knowledgeable, consistent training.
