Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ soccer teams earned victories on October 15. The boys scored four second-half goals to blank visiting Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport 4-0, at Blue & Gold Stadium, and the girls’ soccer team posted a 7-1 win at Kolbe.

The boys’ booters stretched their winning streak to six, and unbeaten run to seven. Omar Rodriquez, Josh Houle, James Carney, and James Cochrane all scored, and Paul O’Leary, Brian Araujo, and Owen Sampson had assists.

Newtown’s girls’ squad won its second consecutive game, and improved to 7-4-2. Both teams have Saturday, October 17, contests; the girls visit Torrington at 11 am, and the boys are home to face East Lyme under the lights at Blue & Gold Stadium, beginning at 6 o’clock.
