NAMI Meeting Features Clinical Social Worker

FAIRFIELD — On Wednesday, November 7, NAMI Fairfield will hold its annual meeting featuring speaker David Kelly, LCSW. The meeting will be held in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, from 7:30 to 9 pm. It is open to the public, is free of charge, and light refreshments will be served.

Mr Kelly will be giving a talk on self-injurious behavior titled, “The World is a Sharp Object.”  He will be outlining the etiology of self-injury as well as discussing how technology, such as the Internet, has influenced self-injurious behavior.

Finally, he will discuss self-injury in practical terms, with a focus on helping concerned parents and family members better spot these problem behaviors early and intervene appropriately.

Mr Kelly is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in work with families and adolescents. He has spent his career working with many different populations in both hospital and residential settings, most recently as a member of the adolescent treatment team at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan.

He currently is in private practice in Norwalk. In addition, NAMI members will vote in new board members and discuss the goals for the upcoming year.
