John N. Pilla, 74, of Heritage Village, died September 4 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy (Herman) Pilla. Mr Pilla was born May 10, 1932 in Glen Head, N.Y., son of Nicholas and Clara (Pellegrino) Pilla.
He was originally from Westbury, Long Island, and Brookfield.
A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he had worked at Gordon Fraser Gallery in Newtown for more than 25 years. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, and enjoyed golfing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Jack Pilla of Charlotte; a daughter, Pamela Pilla of Milford, two brothers, Michael Pilla of Oyster Bay and Anthony Pilla of Anniston, Ala.; a sister, Mary Cherba of Glen Cove, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Margaret Downey, and Ashley, Kaitlyn, and Nicholas Pilla.
Calling hours were scheduled at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street, North Route 6, on Thursday, September 7, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 8, at 10 am, at Sacred Heart Church, Southbury. Burial will be at New North Cemetery, Woodbury.
