Healthier Trash Is Still Trash
To the Editor:
I would like to thank the organizers of Earth Day, and especially Glenn Nanavaty, for coordinating the Lose the Litter campaign. As a regular roadside trash patroller, I would like to share a few reflections on this year's trash pickup.
The litterbugs in our neck of the woods seem to be getting more health conscious as evidenced by:
*The beer of choice has changed from Budweiser to Miller Lite (watching those calories);
*There were fewer cigarette packs;
*They are even flossing (but throwing their floss picks out the window, unfortunately).
However, airline-size liquor bottles were up significantly (wish those could be banned).
Hopefully we can encourage our motorists to become more environmentally conscious, as well.
Thanks to all who help keep Newtown beautiful.
Regards,
Judy Blanchard
