The Independent Line

I am writing to express my dismay and concern at the behavior of Bruce Walczak. Mr Walczak wrote a letter to The Bee last week [“Voters Denied A Third Choice,” Letter Hive, 10/26/12] maligning Mitch Bolinsky who had received the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut. Subsequent to [Mr Bolinsky’s] receiving that endorsement, Mr Walczak received an endorsement to run for the same seat by another faction of the Independent Party. Because of the infighting within the Independent Party, of which Mr Bolinsky plays no part, the secretary of the state was called in to decide whose name should be on the ballot. The result was neither name will appear.

Make no mistake, the local Independent Party of Newtown, in an attempt to insert itself into this election is trying to convince Newtown voters that this endorsement involves them. Mitch Bolinsky was supported as the Independent Party of Connecticut candidate by over 100 Newtown voters whereas Mr Walczak was endorsed at a last minute, questionable caucus, by a handful of IPN members.
