A Guide To Waste
A Guide To Waste
To the Editor:
With your permission I would like to introduce your readers to a document that has been released from Senator Tom Coburnâs (R-Okla.) office (12/2010) entitled Wastebook: A Guide to Some of the Most Wasteful Government Spending of 2010. This document can be found on the Internet at www.conburn.senate.gov.
Just what do we mean by wasteful spending:
1. Upkeep for Unused Monkey House and Other Buildings (Dept of VA) $175 Million (page # 3),
2. Sprucing Up Apartments Before They Are Torn Down (Shreveport, La) $1.5 million (page #4),
3. Museum Where Neon Signs Go to Die (Las Vegas, Nev.) $1.8 million (page #5),
4. âFreeâ Grateful Dead Archive (Santa Cruz, Calif.) $615,000 (page #4)
5. Agencies Pile Up Unnecessary Printing Costs â $930 Million (page #7),
6. Studying World of Warcraft and Other Virtual Games (Irvine, Calif.) $2.9 million (page #7).
It goes on and on. I suggest each and everyone of us take a few minutes and just review what we have paid for â repeat what we have paid for.
Citizens become aware of what Chris Murphy and his cronies are doing with our hard earned money. Happy New Year.
