John J. Scholl
John Joseph Scholl, 61, of Fuller Mountain Road, Kent, died August 20 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Marcia (Sturdevant) Scholl.
Mr Scholl was born in Islip, N.Y., May 6, 1940, a son of Marjorie (Crane) Scholl of Newtown and the late Elwood Scholl. He was a graduate of Fairfield Preparatory School, Fairfield, Class of 1958, and later attended Fairfield University. He joined his father and brother in the family business, Scholl and Sons Meat Market in Bethel, and later in 1983 became a real estate broker with Pepper-Scholl Real Estate in Sharon.
He had been active in the communities of Bethel and Kent, having formerly served on the Board of Selectmen in Bethel, and was a member of the Board of Education in both Bethel and Kent. He was a member and former president of the Kent Lions Club and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Kent.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, John J. Scholl, Jr, of Long Valley, N.J., and Stephen Scholl of Sharon; a daughter, Kristin Silvestri of New Fairfield; a sister, Sister Christel Scholl of Middletown; a brother, James Scholl of Bethel; and three grandchildren, Casey Scholl, Sean Silvestri, and Molly Silvestri.
The funeral was held August 23 in Sacred Heart Church, Kent, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Kent.
