John Ennis McQuail

John Ennis McQuail, 84, of Heritage Village, Southbury, died peacefully July 10, at Danbury Hospital. He was born August 19, 1927, in New York City, son of Katherine (Murray) and John E. McQuail.

He served in the Merchant Marine and achieved the rank of second lieutenant.

Mr McQuail graduated from Holy Cross College in 1952, and Fordham Law School in 1955. For most of his career, he was in private practice in Newtown.

He will be remembered by all for his quick wit, gentle spirit, and as a loving father and devoted husband.

Six children and their spouses, Matthew and Patty, John Ennis, Jr, and Karen, Megan and Cola Vaughan, Christopher and Michele, Joanna and David Lambert, and Mary Atkinson (Newtown); 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews survive Mr McQuail. He and his beloved late wife Mary Ellen (Keogh) McQuail would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 12.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury, on Monday, July 16, at 11 am. Burial will be private.

Friends may call at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, on Sunday July 15, from 4 to 7pm.
