I-84 Median

State police report that motorist Roberto Garcia, 36, of Providence, R.I., was driving a 1988 Toyota station wagon eastbound on Interstate-84 in the left lane of two lanes near Exit 11 about 4 pm ON July 15, when the Toyota veered to the left and struck a small tree on the highway median.

Garcia was not injured in the collision, state police said. State police warned Garcia for traveling too fast for conditions.

VW Vs Buick

State police report a motor vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 11 about 11:45 am July 11.

In the accident, a 1986 Volkswagen driven by Amanda Hath, 21, of Canton bumped a 2000 Buick driven by Robert Wilson, 48, of San Diego, Calif., state police said. State police verbally warned Hath for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Probation Charge

Newtown police said state police apprehended Brandon Avalos, 21, of Gilbert Ariz, about 12:30 am July 18 and learned that Newtown police held an outstanding arrest warrant against him.

Newtown police then served the warrant on Avalos, charging him with violation of probation in connection with a past incident. Newtown police held Avalos on a $2,500 bond for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Boggs Hill DWI

Police said they received a report of a disabled automobile on Boggs Hill Road near Willow Brook Lane about 12:30 am on July 15.

Police said motorist Anthony Capossela, 20, of 54 Jeremiah Road had driven off the road, becoming stuck. Capossela was then attempting to get the disabled Chevrolet back on the road, police said.

Police said they gave Capossela field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated and making an improper turn.

After processing, police released Capossela for an August 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DWI Charge

Police report that while on patrol about 2:40 am on July 16, they spotted motorist Casey W. Michael, 24, of 2 Arrowhead Lane, Sandy Hook, leaving skid marks in Ricky’s Shopping Center on South Main Street.

Police said they stopped Michael and administered field sobriety tests, which Michael failed.

Police charged Michael with driving while intoxicated, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After processing, police released Michael for a July 28 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Larceny Charges

Newtown police said they apprehended two New Milford residents July 18 in connection with the theft of an automobile from Waterbury and the theft of marker plates from New Milford.

Newtown police said they charged John A. Sherwood, 21, and Ivy Sailer, 17, each with third-degree larceny and interfering with police.

A third suspect is being sought in the case, police said.

Police said Sherwood and Sailer attempted to flee from them when police found them at Blue Colony Diner parking lot on Church Hill Road.

Sherwood and Sailer were scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court July 19 to answer the charges.

Warrant

Police report they served a Danbury Superior Court rearrest warrant against Larry Isler, Jr, 18, of 32 Bonnie Brae Drive on July 19. The warrant lists charges of failure to respond to a summons, possession of alcohol by a minor, and failure to operate headlamps, police said. The motor vehicle charges stem from a December 1999 incident, police said. Police said they released Isler on a $250 bond for an August 2 court appearance.

Taunton Hill

Police said they charged motorist David Ostrover, 19, of Easton with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive to the right after he became involved in a one-car accident on Taunton Hill Road about 2:40 am July 20. Ostrover had been driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse when the accident occurred, police said. After processing, police released Ostrover for an August 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

South Main Street

Police said they observed motorist Hope Eisler, 63, of West Haven driving erratically southbound on South Main Street near Cold Spring Road about 11:25 pm on July 19. Police said they stopped the vehicle and gave Eisler sobriety tests. Police charged Eisler with driving while impaired by alcohol and failure to keep to the right. After processing, police released Eisler for an August 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
