Martin Lee Allen, 75, of Newtown, formerly of Westport, died unexpectedly January 21, due to an illness. He was born on October 28, 1942, the son of the late Ralph and Viola (Bay) Allen.

Mr Allen attended school and spent the majority of his life in Westport. Throughout his younger life, he worked in the restaurant business for Rocco's Italian Restaurant and Arrow Restaurant, both located in his hometown.

After retiring, he enjoyed bike riding from Westport to Darien, reading science fiction books, and going to the movies, car shows, and town events. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and his pets. People knew him as a kind and gentle soul who was well liked by many.

Later in his life, he went to live in Newtown with his niece, Shannon Simko, and her husband, Wayne; along with his cat, Oliver, and all the other family pets. He resided with them for several years, enjoying the golden years, nature, and was loving life. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his niece and her husband of Newtown, his sister-in-law, Marion A. Allen of Southbury; and several nieces and nephews survive him.

His two brothers, Arthur E. Allen and Charles B. Allen; and a sister-in-law, Arleen Bitar Allen, predeceased him. Mr Allen will be laid to rest next to his brother, Arthur.

A memorial service will take place May 22, at noon, at the Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main Street, Westport, led by Reverend Scott Nessel.
