Milk Truck

Trucker C.S. Johnson, 30, of Middletown, N.Y., was driving a loaded 2001 Sterling box-style delivery truck for Byrnes Dairy, Inc, of Syracuse, N.Y., westward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection Button Shop Road, about 6:30 am December 18, when while attempting to negotiate a curve in the road, Johnson encountered an eastbound bus with its high-beam headlamps on, police said.

The approaching headlamps temporarily blinded Johnson, after which the truck drifted to the right, went onto the road’s dirt shoulder and then struck some metal-beam guardrailing, police said.

Johnson was not injured. Police said they issued Johnson a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Jeep Vs Ford

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 1:08 pm December 18 on Church Hill Road at its intersection with The Boulevard.

Motorist Marilyn Lucarelli, 55, of Southbury, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, was exiting the commercial parking lot at 30 Church Hill Road, as motorist Joe Dubee, 82, of 7 Deerfield Drive was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Lucarelli a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Three Violations

Motorist Katherine Rosenschein, 16, of 121 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer SUV southward on Scudder Road about 3 am December 13, stopped at a stop sign at Scudder Road’s intersection with Sugar Street (Route 302), police said.

Rosenschein then started to make a left turn onto eastbound Sugar Street, but the Chevrolet collided with motorist James Verrier, 25, of Windsor, who was driving a 1995 Honda Accord sedan westward on Sugar Street, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Rosenschein infractions for failure to obey a stop sign, driving a vehicle after 11 pm while under age 18 in violation of curfew, and violation of passenger restrictions for a driver under age 18. The Chevrolet carried one passenger, police said.

Two Offenses

Police report that at about 3:12 pm on December 17, they stopped motorist Lisa Giugno, 19, of Naugatuck for illegally using a handheld cellphone while driving on Queen Street, near its intersection with Lovell’s Lane.

Police said that on investigating, they learned that Giugno was in possession of a forged Connecticut driver’s license.

Police said they charged Giugno with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and with third-degree forgery. Police released Giugno on a written promise to appear January 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

Slippery Roadway

Motorist Njies Pedjie, 41, of Danbury was driving a 1999 Nissan Altima sedan westward on Route 34, near the Monroe town line, about 6 am December 21, when he slid on the snow-covered roadway, went off the pavement and struck a traffic sign, police said.

Pedjie was not injured. Police said they gave him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Black Ice

While driving a 2009 Ford Ranger pickup truck southward down a slight grade near 98 Hanover Road about 6:35 am December 17, motorist Christopher Nonenmacher, 30, of New Milford encountered some black ice on the pavement, police said.

The truck went out of control and struck some metal guardrailing on the right side of the street and then crossed the street, went off the left side of the road and up an embankment, police report.

Ambulance volunteers transported Nonenmacher to Danbury Hospital on a complaint of pain, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Police said they verbally warned Nonenmacher for making a restricted turn.

Botsford Crash

Police report that motorist Paige Logal, 17, of 233 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 2001 Mazda Protégé sedan eastward on Meadow Brook Road, stopped for a red traffic signal at that street’s intersection with South Main Street and Botsford Hill Road at about 7:20 am December 17.

Logal was intending to drive straight through the intersection to reach Botsford Hill Road when the signal changed, police said.

After the signal turned green for her, Logal started moving forward but encountered motorist Rita Rozhavskaya, 58, of 5 Pinnacle Drive, who was driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla southward on South Main Street directly in front of the Mazda, police said.

The two vehicles collided. Police said there were no injuries. Police said they gave Rozhavskaya an infraction for a traffic signal violation.

Schoolhouse Hill

Motorist Andrew Chimileski, 21, of Walnut Tree Hill Road was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup truck eastward near 49 Schoolhouse Hill Road about 8 am December 21, when the truck skidded off the road to the left and struck some curbing and an embankment, police said.

Chimileski was not injured. Police said they verbally warned him for traveling unreasonably fast.

Icy Road

About 7 pm December 17, motorist Michael Lago, 17, of 17 Taunton Lake Road was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck southward near 115 Taunton Hill Road, when while negotiating a curve, he lost control of the vehicle on icy pavement, police report.

The truck went over the road’s center line, drove off the northbound road shoulder and then struck a stone wall, police said.

Lago was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right on a curve.

Ford Vs Nissan

About 2:38 pm on December 17, motorist Helen Morgan, 80, of 3 Juniper Road, was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus sedan eastward on Church Hill Road and was attempting to make a left turn into the driveway at 47 Church Hill Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Gina Fenaroli, 18, of 63 Tomahawk Trail was driving a 1993 Nissan Maxima sedan westward on Church Hill Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Morgan a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

South Main DUI

Police report that while they were on specialized patrol on the lookout for intoxicated drivers, they spotted motorist Nerivaldo Santos, 36, of Bridgeport driving northward in the southbound lane of South Main Street, near Bryan Lane, about 2:22 am December 23, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police arrested Santos on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without a license.

Police said they held Santos on $2,000 bail for an arraignment later that day in Danbury Superior Court.

Theft From Vehicle

Sometime between 9:45 am on December 13, and 11 am on December 15, someone stole unspecified property from within a Honda CRV with New Hampshire marker plates, which was parked at 47 Church Hill Road, according to police.

Police are investigating the sixth-degree larceny and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.

NHS Assault

Police report a physical fight involving two female students under age 16 at Newtown High School midday on December 17.

After investigating the incident, police charged one of the two girls with third-degree assault and with breach of peace.

Following arrest processing, police released the girl from custody for a January 5 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.

State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Sex Charges

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a boy under age 16 turned himself in at the police station on the morning of December 19 and was charged with five offenses.

In a brief description on their reason for arresting the boy, police stated that during October, “the juvenile touched multiple female students inappropriately while on a school bus.”

Police arrested the boy on three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and on two counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor.

After processing, police released the boy from custody for a January 5 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Berkshire Road Collision

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Old Mill Road, about 7:04 pm December 22, police report.

Motorist Donald Evans, 72, of 14 Osborn Hill Road was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastward on Berkshire Road, when he began to skid on the icy road, spun about and then collided with motorist Karen Hunziker, 61, of 16 Mountain Laurel Lane, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Celica that was carrying two passengers, police said.

Police said ambulance volunteers transported the three occupants of the Toyota to Danbury Hospital to be evaluated for injuries. Sandy Hook firefighters went to the accident.

Police aid they issued Evans a written warning for failure to drive to the right.

Too Fast For Conditions

Motorist Matthew Light, 33, of Roxbury was driving a 2000 Chevrolet AstroVan southward on South Main Street during slippery conditions about 1:12 pm December 19, when he attempted to turn left onto Mile Hill Road but slid off the street, striking a curb and a pole, according to police.

Light was not injured. Police said that Light was traveling too fast for conditions.

Slippery Road

About 1 pm December 19, motorist William Black, 51, of 301 South Main Street was driving a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck westward on Button Shop Road, when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with motorist Patrick Cushing, 42, of 9 Turkey Roost Road, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said Black received a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
