Francis Edward Griffin, 93, of Southern Pines, N.C., formerly of Newtown, died July 17 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst after a short illness.
A Mass of the Resurrection was held on July 21 at the Sacred Heart Church, Pinehurst.
Frank Griffin was born in Somerset, Mass. He was a graduate chemical engineer of Wentworth College and later earned a management degree from the Harvard Business School. Mr Griffin had an illustrious lifetime career with Exxon, working with the company 35 years. While there, he held a number of overseas posts including general manager of Lago Oil Refinery in Aruba, director of refinery of Abadan Refinery in Iran, and director of refining in Great Britain.
Mr Griffin also worked with David Rockefeller and Frank Pace to set up the Executive Service Corps with a full-time consultant to the international oil industry, working in particular with American Independent Oil until her retired again in 1987.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Yolande âDonnyâ (Donohue) Griffin; sons Neal David Evans Griffin of Garden City, N.Y., and Robert Edward Griffin of Gulfport, Miss.; a sister, Eleanor (Griffin) Fagan of Providence, R.I.; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Church building Fund, Pinehurst, N.C., Moore Regional Hospital Foundation, Pinehurst, or American Red Cross.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Brookfield, at a date to be announced.
