“Voici mon secret. Il est Tres simple: on ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.” —Antoine St Exupery

Katie Rose Crevier, daughter of Nancy and Philip Crevier of Newtown, and Andrew Richard Grigg, son of Patricia Grigg and Richard Grigg, both of Hamden, were joined in marriage on Saturday, September 29, in a late afternoon ceremony held in the Spanish garden at Gwyn Careg Inn, Pomfret Center.

The bride was escorted down a rose-petal strewn walkway by her father, as string quartet Quartetto Vivo performed Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, by J.S. Bach.

Holding a bouquet of white dahlias, blue hydrangea, blue delphinium, white sweet peas and white anemones with seeded eucalyptus, wrapped in ivory satin ribbon, she was dressed in an organza gown with an illusion veiling overlay from the White by Vera Wang collection. The strapless A-line gown featured fern embroidery made of beads and metallic and silk thread; 102 covered buttons trailed down the back and a cathedral-length train flowed behind her.

An elbow-length two-tiered veil trimmed in beadwork brushed the bride’s shoulders.

Mary Grace Carpenter of San Clemente, Calif., was maid of honor. Alana Wenick of New York City and Elisa Van Buskirk of Bangkok, Thailand, served as bridesmaids. The attendants were dressed in sleeveless, knee-length dresses of dark blue silk taffeta with origami-like pleats along the bodice and waist, and carried ribbon-wrapped bouquets of blue and white hydrangea with seeded eucalyptus.

Daniel Turkosz of Waterford was best man. Groomsmen were Abraham Aron of Farmington and Brendan O’Brien of New London. The groom and his groomsmen sported boutonnieres of blue delphinium, white veronica and a rose bud, and seeded eucalyptus berries.

Attendants processed to Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze.

The Reverend Matthew Crebbin, senior minister, and the Reverend Janice Touloukian, assistant minister, of Newtown Congregational Church co-officiated the ceremony.

Brother of the bride, Nathan Crevier, Boston, read from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, and sister of the groom, Hannah Grigg, Washington, D.C., read from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116.

The bride and groom recessed to “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles, then continued the celebration with lawn games, dinner, and dancing.

The newlyweds departed the celebration beneath an arch of sparklers held high by friends and family.

Following a honeymoon on the islands of Hawaii, Katie Rose and Drew Grigg are at home in Colchester.
