Mary (Farrell) Banziger died February 13, at her home in Southbury, after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Robert E. Banziger, who died in 1992. She was born in Waterbury, April 15, 1922, the daughter of Mary (Bowes) and Daniel J. Farrell.
Three sons, including Peter J. Banziger of Wilton, formerly of Newtown, survive Mrs. Banziger. She was predeceased by one son, Thomas.
 Mrs Banziger was an elementary school teacher with a career that spanned 40 years. She retired in 1983 from the Waterbury school system. Her most gratifying professional assignment occurred in the twilight of her career, when she developed and implemented the Basic Skills program at Bucks Hill School, to help underperforming students advance to peer levels in reading and mathematics.
Mrs Banziger was also active in church and community activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place February 16. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown, at the convenience of the family. Visit www.murphyfuneralhomect.com for more information or to send an online condolence.
