Carly Doherty and Katie Kirrane combined on a triple play to lead Preferred Computer Systems to an 11-6 win over the Newtown Phone Book in Newtown Babe Ruth Softball League U14/U16 action last week.

U14/U16

 

George’s Pizza 16, Attorney Edward Kelleher 13 – Sarah Pollock and Kelley Tenney drove in three runs apiece to lead George’s Pizza to the win. Megan Brayton fanned five batters and Kimmi Andrews scored four times to pace George’s. For Kelleher, Melissa Fracker banged out three hits, Katie Orlando pitched well, and Kate Kelleher was 3-for-4 to power the offense.

Attorney Edward Kelleher 9, George’s Pizza 8 – Katie Orlando pitched three strong innings, Chelsea Fowler had two big hits, and Annie Hull played well in the field to lead Kelleher to the win. For George’s, Alyssa Krueger and Ashlee Ross pitched well while Megan Brayton scored a pair of runs.

Preferred Computer Systems 16, George’s Pizza 13 – Kate Schmidle tripled and drove in a run while Heather Magill stole three bases and scored a run to lead PCS to the win. Alyson Graham pitched well. For George’s, Katie Freedman made some fine stops at second base to pace the defense while Andrew Rigby and Kelley Tenney powered the offense.

Preferred Computer Systems 11, Newtown Phone Book 6 – Carly Doherty and Katie Kirrane sparked the defense with a triple play and led PCS to the win. Heather McGill played well behind the dish. For Phone Book, Rebecca Reed and Hillary Moskowitz hit the ball hard while Joanna Barry and Kayla Rustici played well in the field.

Chase Bank 16, Drug Center 7 – Stacy Broughton and Angela Viesto turned in unassisted double plays to power the defense and lead Chase Bank to the win. Tina Sanchez and Christy Fogelstrom doubled and Sam Ross tripled to spark the offense. For Drug Center, Carolyn Gringas had a hit while Meaghan Dawley and Gretchen Carey played well on defense.

Attorney Edward Kelleher 16, Drug Center 9 – Allie Rambone drove in three runs while Annie Hull and Kate Kelleher played well to lead Kelleher to the win. For Drug Center, Hillary Smith had a pair of hits and three RBI as Danielle Petrella banged out a run-scoring hit and Rachel Marlin played well on defense.

Chase Bank 12, Newtown Phone Book 11 – Shannon McGrath singled in Angela Viesto with the winning run to lead Chase Bank past Newtown Phone Book. Callie Koch had a double in the game while Sam Carlisle played well behind the plate. For the Phone Book, Joanna Barry doubled while Kayla Rustici scored a pair of runs and Lisa Alberico played well behind the plate.

Chase Bank 11, Preferred Computer Systems 7 – Christy Fogelstrom doubled while Stacy Broughton fanned five batters in three innings of work to lead Chase Bank to the win. Tina Sanchez and Sam Carlisle both made fine defensive plays. For PCS, Allison Graham had a fine pitching effort, Katie Schmidt hit the ball hard and played well at first, and Sara Regensburger and Heather McGill had solid efforts behind the plate.

The Quiet Company 13, Attorney Edward Kelleher 12 – Catrina Morgan belted a two-run single as Renata Villareal went 3-for-3 and scored twice to lead The Quiet Company to the win. Jax Van Waalwijk clubbed a three-run homer and Bridie Rubino played well at third. For Kelleher, Melissa Fracker doubled and Kate Kelleher played well in the field.

 

The Quiet Company 13, Newtown Phone Book 11 – Sarah Truitt went 3-for-3 and made a spectacular catch at first base to lead The Quiet Company to the win. Ashley Jones doubled in a run while Kelly Ann Murphy played well at second. For the Phone Book, Nikki Reyen scored three runs as Amanda Sharpe, Tara Belmont and Rebecca Reed played well in the field.

Drug Center 13, The Quiet Company 12 – Gretchen Carey and Erin McKuaya played well in the field to help lead Drug Center. Nicole Benzinger drove in Meg Dawley with the winning run. For The Quiet Company, Catrina Morgan singled twice, Jessica Rockwell played well at first, and Megan Barbour went 2-for-3 with a double.

U12

 

Creative Mailing Services 14, Lexington Gardens 8 – Kristen Brassard tripled and Devon Miles doubled to lead Creative Mailing to the win. Kaitlin Marsden went 3-for-3 while Marley Koschel and Jenn Dailey singled. For Lexington, Paige Woodhouse pitched well while Kaila Harrington was 2-for-2 and Rachel Fossum and Megan Rockwell collected singles.

JP Maguire 16, Newtown Insurance 12 – Linnea Pearson singled, doubled and tripled to lead JP Maguire to the win. Sarah Smith pitched well while Victoria Braga and Rachel Camejo played well. For Newtown Insurance, Marissa Cardella collected a pair of hits while Emily Rowe played well in the field.

Carquest 10, Karen’s Fitness 0 – Liz Anderson, Caitlin D’Eramo, and Rachel Fisher all had solid hits to lead Carquest to the win. Jenna Himmelfarb showed great glovework at first base. For Karen’s, Erin Kramer made an unassisted double play, Morgan D’Avola and Scarlett O’Sullivan played well behind the plate, and Margaret Sullivan had a solid pitching effort.

Ricci’s Salon 12, Karen’s Fitness 3 – Jackie Bonadio pitched well and made a heads up play for a double play to first basemen Rebecca Devivo to lead Ricci’s. Rebecca Bloom drove in a run as Theresa Viesto banged out three hits. For Karen’s, Kate Bamberg played good defense with Margaret Sullivan and Brittany Clark pitching a good game. Stephanie Arndt had a bit hit.

 

U10

 

Bob Tendler Real Estate 11, Dr Henry Gellert 8 – Kelley Van Veen drove in a pair of runs with two base hits to lift Tendler past Gellert. Colleen Cunningham sparked the defense with a double play while Jade Mather and Caitlin Downing combined in a game-ending play at home plate. For Gellert, Amanda Rowan and Taylor Johnson collected three hits apiece. Kelly Keenan pitched well as Morghan Moroney had a fine game in the field.

Bob Tendler Real Estate 13, JP Maguire 3 – Leah Copeland allowed just one run in her pitching debut and combined with Jade Mather (two strikeouts) and Erin Dloughy to lead Tendler to the win. Shannon Barra went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs to spark the offense For Maguire, Sarah Smith pitched well and singled while Christina Caporale and Kyra Middleleer each had run-scoring hits. Rachel Camejo contributed a run-scoring double.

Rich’s Keys & Locks 15, Union Savings Bank 8 – Ashley Perry drove in three runs as Rich’s defeated Union Savings. Meghan Condon and Dianna Carozza excelled in the field as Kelsey Van Der Lihn pitched well. For Union Savings, Sabrina Lumpuy, Emma Herring, Megan Gibbons and Michelle Margait had fine performances.

Villa Restaurant 10, JP Maguire 9 – Rhea Schneider and Nicole Hamilton scored runs to lead Villa to the win. Erin Begg and Samantha Liss pitched well. For Maguire, Meaghan Fossum pitched well while Katie Fossum and Kira Reed scored runs.

Executive Landscaping 14, Rich’s Keys & Locks 8 – Maggie Atkinson was 2-for-3 and Morgan Vadas had a pair of key hits to lead Executive to the win. Destiny Fell pitched well. Dianna Carozza drove in a pair of runs, Anegla Ross scored a pair of runs and Abby Doski played well in the field to lead Rich’s.

Newtown Insurance, Villa Restaurant 5 – Emily Moller and Gabby Mason had key hits to lead Newtown Insurance over the Villa Restaurant. Morgan Hopper also hit hard while Jamie Boucher had an RBI and pitched two scoreless innings. For the Villa, Bailey Paskey continued to shine in the field as and Kendall Svanda and Shannon Panasiuk both had hits.

Union Savings 14, Dr Henry Gellert 11 – Kate Siroky collected a single and a bases-loaded double to lead Dr Gellert. Amanda Rowan and Taylor Johnson collected two hits apiece in the loss while Morghan Moroney pitched well.

JP Maguire 8, Dr Henry Gellert 6 – Amanda Rowan had a pair of RBIs to lead the Gellert offense. Abby Keough and Katelyn Dandrea pitched well.

Dr Henry Gellert 13, Villa Restaurant 3 – Katelyn Dandrea had four hits and Lindsay McCoy had three to power Gellert to the win. Kate Siroky and Taylor Johnson combined to pitch three scoreless innings. For Villa, Brandy Nezvesky and Nicole Hamilton had hits for Villa Restaraunt. Ali Kennedy and Kendal Svanda combined for some great short stop – second base defensive plays.

Dr Henry Gellert 9, Villa Restaurant 4 – Abby Keough, Katelyn Dandrea and Amanda Rowan lead the hitting attack for Dr. Gellert while Emily Sherman and Abby Keough pitched well in the win. For Villa, Aria Brownell hit a line shot double with the bases loaded to drive in two runs. Miryam LaCroce had a stolen base and Megan Duero continued to shine as a strong defensive catcher.

Dr Henry Gellert 16, Executive Lawn 7 – Katelyn Dandrea pitched two innings and allowed only two runs to lead Gellert to the win. Taylor Johnson belted a three-run homer while Emily Sherman and Lindsay McCoy banged out two hits apiece. For Executive Lawn, Marissa Cascella, Maggie Atkinson. Mallorie Dunn and Nicole Scalora turned in stellar defensive performances.

Dr Henry Gellert 16, Rich’s Keys & Locks 3 – Abby Keough, Kelly Keenan, and Kate Siroky provided two hits apiece to power the Gellert offense. Sarah Desrosiers lead the way in the field with a great defensive performance.

 

Student

 

Advantage Loan versus Newtown Junior Women – Tressa Scott, Kate Butera and Abby Callery played well for Advantage Loan while Kelsey Packer, Veronica Eamres, Kayleigh Shambelan and Lilly Fulmer led the Junior Women.

Advantage Loan versus Air Tech – Rebecca Dytsar and Kelley O’Connell hit the ball hard as Hele Mooriz pitched well and Abby Callery shined on defense. For Air Tech, Alex Buttery, Joy Sgobbo, Caroline Poulter and Lexy Rodriguez pitched well.

 

Travel Tryouts

 

All In-House players are invited to tryout for the U14 and U16 travel teams on Saturday, June 5, on the back field at Newtown High School. U14 players will tryout from 10 am to 12 noon while U16 players will tryout from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Registration fee is $175 and travel bag (if needed) is $25.
