Joan M. Treble

Joan M. Treble, 80, of Newtown and New York City, died unexpectedly May 18 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Miss Treble was born in New York City, March 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Marian (Locke) Treble. She was a graduate of Hunter College, Class of 1943. For 35 years, until her retirement in 1978, she was a librarian for the New York Public Library. She was a member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Association of New York, and was an avid traveler, sailor, and gardener.

Miss Treble is survived by a niece, Cecily Judd, of Sullivan, Me. She was predeceased by a sister, Cicely (Treble) Judd, a brother-in-law, William E. Judd, and a niece, Jennifer Treble Judd.

Funeral services will be held at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday at 4 pm. Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made in her memory to Regional Hospice, 405 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810.
