*LENNY KRAVITZ will be headlining at the Oakdale in Wallingford on Saturday, April 23. Tickets for that show are going on sale this weekend, on Saturday at 10 am. Prices have been set at $35 and $45.

Tickets will be available in person from the Oakdale’s box office or TicketMaster outlets, online from TicketMaster.com, through TicketMaster’s charge lines (860-525-4500 or 203-624-0033).

*AMERICAN MORTAR ORIGINAL ROCK BAND will be back on the road this month, playing at Cousin Larry’s Sports Bar & Café on Friday, February 18. The café is on Main Street, at the corner of Elm (telephone 730-0035).

Showtime is 9:30, and the cover charge is just $3.

The show, says lead singer and lyricist Susan Brachfeld Washburn, will be a Belated Valentine’s Day Bash. “Everyone who didn’t have a chance to give or get a valentine on the 14th – and even those who did – has to come that night! A free rose will be given to the first ten pairs of people,” she promises.

*A benefit concert for 20 families who were devastated by the earthquakes and resulting tsunamis in southeast Asia in December is being coordinated for next weekend in Danbury.

The legendary folk and blues performer JOSH WHITE JR, the acoustic folk duo OPEN BOOK, Redding resident and singer-songwriter DAN BONIS, and SANS CHERUBS lead singer WENDY CAHILL will be performing on Saturday, February 19, at Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main Street. The concert will begin at 7 pm and all tickets are $20. Call 748-0359 for reservations or additional information.

The concert will be raising funds for The Bang Tao Relief Fund, which was established by Bethel native Wally Sudik to help survivors in Bang Tao, Thailand.

*Peace and social justice folk singers and songwriters DAVID ROVICS and ROBB JOHNSON will be performing at Molten Java Café in Bethel next week. Suggested donation for the Tuesday, February 22 event is $10. Start time is 8 pm.

*A couple of concerts at Mohegan Sun Arena have sold out. Tickets TOBY KEITH with TED NUGENT, on March 4; CHER, on April 12; and ROD STEWART, April 13, are all gone.

*The Webster Theatre has announced a number of new shows for its schedule including RYAN CABRERA and BONNIE McKEE, March 5; ARI HEST in The Webster Underground, March 18; JANI LANE of Warrant, March 27; and THE WAILERS, April 7.

*SOL DOG had some bag luck last week. After drummer Mark became so ill he had to be admitted to the hospital, the guys were forced to cancel their gig at Toad’s Place that had been set up for February 8. The good news is Mark is now home and doing better. Word is he’s having a tough time sitting still, so I wouldn’t sweat it if you’re planning to catch Rev, Ron, Curtis and, yes, Mark when they return to The Georgetown Saloon on Friday, February 25.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
