Mr And Mrs Eriks M. Griffiths

Nicole Michelle Hemmett, the daughter of Paula and the late Westbrook Hemmett of St Johnsbury, Vt., and Lt (jg) Eriks Martins Griffiths, the son of Geoffrey and Mara Griffiths of Newtown, were united in marriage on June 10 at the Fox Hall Inn overlooking Lake Willoughby in Vermont.

Nicole was given in marriage by her mother, Paula. She and Eriks were married by her father’s close friend, Pastor Thomas VanDerMeid, who with his family also sang during the wedding.

The couple was attended by the following people: Johnna Hall, maid of honor and longtime friend of the bride; Heidi Hemmett and Melissa Hemmett, bridesmaids and sisters of the bride; Annele and Zile Jones, flower girls and cousins of the groom; Matthew Stewart, best man and friend of the groom; Erik Hemmett, usher and brother of the bride; Karlis Griffiths, usher and brother of the groom; Peter Griffiths, junior usher and brother of the groom; and Jaden Strader, ring bearer and cousin of the bride.

Grandparents in attendance were Richard and Joyce Amell, Mrs Gordon Hemmett, Mrs Aina Priedite, and Mrs Doreen Griffiths.

Nicole is a 1996 graduate of St Johnsbury Academy and a 2000 graduate of Skidmore College where she earned her degrees in psychology and elementary education.

Eriks is a 1994 graduate of Newtown High School and a 1998 graduate of the US Naval Academy where he earned his degree in electrical engineering.

Following a honeymoon on the island of Molokai, the couple now lives on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, where Eriks is an officer on the submarine USS Columbia (SSN-771), and Nicole is a teacher at Kaimilioa Elementary School.
