Trips –

May 21: The Bronx Zoo. Cost is $56 per person. Bus leaves Newtown Middle School at 8:30 am and returns around 6 pm.

June 11: Block Island, Rhode Island. Take a one-hour cruise from New London to Old Harbor. Go biking hiking, relax on the beach or watch the yachts maneuver and a variety of shops. Cost is $62 per person. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 9:15 am and returns approximately 10 pm.

July 24: Take a trip to All-You-Can-Eat-Lobster and casino bonus at the Mohegan Sun. Cost is $75 per person. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 10 am and returns approximately 9:30 pm.

August 20: Take a summer cruise on Narragansett Bay. Round trip from Warren to Newport, Rhode Island. Bus leaves the Newtown Middle School at 7 am and returns approximately 8:30 pm. Cost is $65 per person.

Program news –

Women’s Over 40 Drop-in Basketball meets every Tuesday night at the Middle School Gym A from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Going on now till the end of the school year.

Come see The Lucky Show on April 19 at the Middle School Auditorium at 11 am. This show is open to anyone four years and older. From the United States to Japan, The Lucky Show has been everywhere … but catch him before he disappears. Cost is $7 per person.

Day Camp Registration mail in begins this Saturday, April 16, for Treadwell and Dickinson Camp.

There still is room in the following programs:

Paint, Draw & More meets April 27 through June 1, 4 to 5 pm (for ages 5 to 8) and 5 to 6 pm (for ages 9 to 13). Cost is $94; Magic Workshops will meet on April 27, May 18 and June 8 and the fee is $35 per workshop for ages 5 to 12; Junior/Adult Golf Lessons will be held on a variety of dates … … as will a Golf Quest Short Game School. Check with Park and Rec or Golf Quest in Brookfield; Baby Sitting Class for ages 11 to 15 will be held on Wednesdays, May 4 and 11, or Mondays, May 9 and 16, 3:45 to 6:45 pm. Fee is $45 per session; Women’s Self Defense class will be held on May 2, 9 and 16 for ages 12 and up for $40; Rowing workshops and (new this year) a Rowing Camp will be held on a variety of weekends and weeks for ages 13 and up; Then there is Adult Kayak Safety. Rock Climbing and Rappelling, Family Rock Climbing, Youth & Family Caving, Flat Water Kayak Program, Family Kayak Beginner lessons and Horseback Riding lessons.

Don’t forget to check the Middle School Camp for grades 6 to 8. Some exciting trips have been planned .. such as Go Kart Racing at Checkered Flag Raceway in Berlin; Farmington River Tubing; Rock Climbing; and more.

For the summer, look for Sewing Lessons; Study Skills Seminar; Theatre Camp; Science Adventure: Mystery of the Lost Pirate Treasures; Space and Rocketry; Paint, Draw & More; Computertots; Lego Movie Maker; Lego Robotics or Lego Fun-gineering; Idea Explosion; and Connect to Your Reading. Summer sports camps will include Track, Athletic Development, Flag Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Field Hockey, Softball, Lacrosse, Golf, Karate, Soccer, Dance, Skyhawks Volleyball, and Roller Hockey for ages 7-14 years.
