Popular childrenâs author and illustrator Bruce Degen of Newtown will be visiting Borders Books for a special story time on Saturday, February 26, at 10 am. Mr Degen will sketch a scene from his books Jamberry and Jesse Bear, and will then read the stories for fans of all ages. Along with special guest Jesse Bear, Mr Degen will also pose for pictures with the children who attend the story time.
Mr Degen used his childhood memories of Brooklyn when he drew the title character for the beloved Jesse Bear series of books, which were written by Nancy White Carlstrom. In the book Jamberry, both written and illustrated by Mr Degen, a boy and a bear set off on a delicious and raucous romp through Berryland in a book that just begs to be read out loud.
Children of all ages are invited to the Saturday morning story time with Bruce Degen. The program is free of charge. Borders is at 110 Federal Road and can be reached by calling 798-1100.
