Cabaret Night Planned At The Library, Fundraiser For Lions Club 12/14 Recovery Fund
Newtown’s own Solid Gold Times Two (Bob and Josie Schmidt) will headline a special Cabaret Night at C.H. Booth Library being planned for Friday, October 11. Doors will open at 6 pm, and the show will begin at 7.
Requested donation is $10 per person, payable at the door, with proceeds to benefit Newtown Lions Foundation Sandy Hook Elementary Fund (NLC-SHEF). The fund has already distributed more than $160,000 for counseling services for first responders, and Sandy Hook Elementary School families and staff members.
“Josie and I wanted to do something to raise more money for the fund because the Lions club hopes to keep the fund going for ten years,” said Mr Schmidt, who is a member of the local Lions Club and serves as chair of NLC-SHEF. “This show will put the fun back into FUNDraising,” he promised.
Bob Schmidt is a published singer-songwriter who plays guitar and sings. Josie Schmidt sings, and plays the flute on several songs. Their repertoire includes songs by Sinatra, Elvis, Neil Diamond, the Beatles, Van Morrison, Celine Dion, Bob Seger, the Mamas & the Poppas, the Eagles, the Moody Blues, and Lady Antebellum. They plan to perform solid gold hits from the Fifties to the Eighties during their 90-minute interactive show, which will also include “Name That Tune.”
The room will be set up cabaret style. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink (beer, wine and soda).
Space is limited, so reservations are suggested. They can be made through the library’s website or by calling 203-426-1222.
