Meghan OâConnor, a former Newtown resident, and John Irvine were married by Paul Homes on April 27, 2008, at their home in Kansas City, Mo. A reception followed at Lidiaâs Italy-Kansas City.
Meghan is the daughter of Michael E. OâConnor and Janice Phelan of Newtown. She was given into marriage by her father. Her sister, Sheila OâConnor of Westlake, Ohio, served as her maid of honor.
She is a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School. She then attended and graduated from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Penn., with a bachelorâs in theater, and continued her studies at Smith College, where she earned her masterâs in teaching. She is employed as a speech and theater teacher at Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City.
John is the son of Robert and Nancy Irvine of Omaha, Neb., and Denise and Jerry Chettle of Smithville, Mo.
Ben Collins served as his best man.
John graduated from Platts County High School, Platt City, Mo., in 1993. He later earned a bachelorâs degree in philosophy and religion from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo. He is an abstractor for Bankers & Lenders Title in Kansas City.
