Marino Pelino

‘Joe The Barber’

Marino Pelino, 68, of Stratford, died January 4, at Bridgeport Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born in Introdacqua, Abruzzo, Italy, on April 17, 1940, he was the son of Giuseppe and Gina (Pronio) Pelino.

Mr Pelino was an active and vibrant member of the community, and a former owner of Village Barber Shop in Newtown. He was known as “Joe the Barber” and was well-liked by many, and had a friendly word for all.

Mr Pelino was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Stratford and St Raphael’s Church in Bridgeport where he and his wife also sang in the choir. He was an avid gardener and would often be found tending his flowers and frequently shared cuttings of his favorite plants. A skilled trumpet player, he would often entertain at family gatherings. Lastly, Marino enjoyed raising and caring for a wide variety of birds.

 Survivors include his beloved wife, Anna (Iacuone) Pelino; three daughters; six grandchildren; and three siblings.

Funeral services were held January 8. Entombment will be in St Monica Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
