Newtowners Arrested On Drug Charges

DANBURY — Bethel police, while conducting an investigation into illegal drug activity on the night of July 26, arrested two Newtown men and a Bethel man on various drug charges at a Newtown Road (Route 6) restaurant in Danbury.

The charges stems from the possession of a large amount of heroin and some marijuana, police said.

Bethel police said they arrested Charles Hill, 25, of Sandy Hook on charges of possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession of narcotics, conspiracy to sell narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also, police arrested Michael Aguis, 22, of Newtown on charges of possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Additionally, police arrested Andrew Mentch, 20, of Bethel on charges of possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession of narcotics, and conspiracy to sell narcotics.

Bethel police said that they received information that Hill and Mentch were in possession of a large amount of heroin and were in the Route 6 area near the Bethel-Danbury town line.

Bethel police said they located Hill and Mentch at the Taco Bell Restaurant on Newtown Road in Danbury and then learned that they were possession of heroin.

Police said they found more than 100 bags/folds of heroin along with drug paraphernalia and $2,000 in cash.

Hill and Mentch were each held on bail and then arraigned July 27 in Danbury Superior Court. Each man was being held on $10,000 bail on July 29 in the Bridgeport Correctional Center for upcoming court appearances.

Police said that Hill was attempting to buy marijuana from Agius on July 26. Police said Agius was in possession of marijuana which was packaged for sale.

 Police arrested Agius, processed his case and then released him on bail for an upcoming arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

The Bethel police’s dog, Asco, assisted in making the drug arrests.
