Stan C. Karpacz

Stan C. Karpacz, 70, former member and chairman of the Newtown Legislative Council, died September 8 in Danbury Hospital. Mr Karpacz was the loving husband of Patricia (Sinapi) Karpacz and resided at 10 Hyvue Drive, Newtown.

He was born in Linden, N.J., August 12, 1930, a son of the late Stanislaus and Casmira (Kulikowski) Karpacz. Mr Karpacz was a graduate of St John’s University, and served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean War.

For several years, Mr Karpacz was employed as a technical manager for Hughes/Raytheon of Danbury where he worked on the Hubbell Space Telescope. He retired in 1995.

A resident of Newtown since 1967, he was an active member of St Rose of Lima Parish where he served as chairman of the Parish Council and as a Minister of the Eucharist. Mr Karpacz was the committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 270 from 1972 to 1975. From 1980 to 1991 he was a member of the Newtown Legislative Council.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Matthew of Wayland, Mass., Andrew of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Peter of Hopkinton, Mass.; two sisters, Josephine Brzoska of Albany, N.Y., and Heddy Mlott of Cornwall, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held September 12 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
