Time is running out to make donations to Adopt-A-Shelter Dog Month and when Piper last checked out the drop-off box at The Newtown Bee’s office, it was a long way down to the several cans of food at the bottom. Since that time a nice carrying crate has been added, but donations are still being accepted until November 1. Items needed include dry and canned food, pig’s ears, treats, tooth paste (poultry flavor), rope toys, squeak toys, tennis balls, pet store gift certificates, and cleaning supplies such as paper towels, detergents, towels, large black garbage bags, and ammonia. The donations box is in the lobby of The Bee Publishing Company, at 5 Church Hill Road.
