Overturned SUV
On November 3 at about 9:33 am, State Police report that Harry Parker, 77, of Southbury was traveling on I-84 eastbound near the Exit 10 on ramp operating a 2002 Toyota Tacoma SUV when the driver swerved to avoid another state DOT vehicle, struck a light pole, drove across the on-ramp and overturned on the right shoulder. No injuries were reported, and the driver was issued a warning for failure to drive in an established lane.
Not Insured
At about 6 am on November 3, State Police reported that a commercial vehicle owned by Carolina Tree Care of Aiken, S.C., was traveling on I-84 west, just east of Exit 11 when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Honda Civic being operated by Peter Diliberto, 28, of Naugatuck. The Honda was totaled and towed from the scene while the commercial vehicle sustained minor damage and was drivable. It was determined that Diliberto was operating without insurance, and he was arrested on the charges of following too close and failure to maintain minimum insurance. He was released on a $1,000 nonsurety bond pending a November 19 court date.
Lost Control
On November 6 at about 8:51 am, Katherine Sasanoff, 61, of Louis Hill Road, Sandy Hook was operating a 2011 Honda Accord Eastbound on I-84 just east of the Church Hill Road overpass when she was struck by a 2005 Volvo XC70 being operated by Amy Caporale, 16, of Northridge Drive, Newtown. State police report that Caporale lost control of the vehicle, and she was issued an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane. No injuries were reported and the Volvo was towed from the scene.
