Watercolor In Wildlife, Next Wednesday At Meeting House
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Steve Hamlin painting in watercolor at its next meeting, on Wednesday, March 23, at 1:30 pm. His subject will be wildlife.
This demonstration will take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited to attend, free of charge.
A native New Englander, Mr Hamlin has lived in western Massachusetts most of his life.
A painter since childhood, until recently he had always worked in watercolor. Over the past couple of years, he has also worked extensively in graphite and experimented with acrylics and pastels. Mr Hamlin's work reflects three life-long passions: nature, history and architecture.
Steve Hamlin's work has been in group and solo shows throughout the Northeast, notably the Bennington (VT) Center for the Arts, the Salmagundi Club, National Art League, the CT Academy of Fine Arts, and shows of New England Watercolor Society.
Already this year, his work was included in "Art of the Animal Kingdom" at Bennington Center for the Arts (for the sixth consecutive year), as well as in "Art and The Animal," - the annual exhibition of the Society of Animal Artists - at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, N.Y.
For his SCAN program, Mr Hamlin will demonstrate techniques he uses in painting wildlife in watercolors. The demo will highlight his diffused backgrounds as well as more tightly rendered applications typically used on his main subject.
Reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654.
