Edward J. McGrath
Edward J. McGrath, 70, of Ansonia and formerly of Newtown, died October 1, in Griffin Hospital, Derby.
He was the father of Edward P. McGrath, John A. McGrath and Francis C. McGrath, all of Newtown.
Mr McGrath was born in Bridgeport, March 28, 1929, a son of the late John and Alice (Conklin) McGrath. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A resident of Ansonia the past 15 years, he was last employed as a security supervisor at Wesley Heights Methodist Home in Shelton.
Mr McGrath was a member of the Carpenters Union No. 210 and a charter member of the Turkey Roost Rod & Gun Club of Monroe and the Newtown Fish and Game Club. He was a National Rifle Association safety instructor.
 In addition to his sons, Mr McGrath is survived by his beloved companion, Joyce Blewett of Ansonia; three daughters, Christine M. Healy of Guilford, Cathy A. Whitehead of Beverly Hills, Calif. and Charlene G. Sullivan of Bridgewater; two sisters, Elsie Keers of Watertown and Dr Joan Gallagher of Southbury; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held October 4, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
