Family Education Series To Offer New Workshops
The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities (CACLD) is offering three new workshops as part of its Family Education Series. Through the generous support of the Westport Young Womenâs League and Eagle Hill School, Greenwich, these workshops are free of charge. Any interested party is welcome to attend. On Tuesday, May 3, from 10 to 11:30 am, in the McManus Room of the Westport Library, Dr Marcia Eckerd will speak on âTeaching Your Child Social Effectiveness.â Dr Eckerd is a psychologist at Associates for Children and Families in Norwalk. She and her partners have worked for more than ten years creating an approach that can be implemented at home and school.
Donna Goldberg, founder of The Organized Student in Manhattan, will speak at the Eagle Hill School, Greenwich, on Tuesday, May 10, from 7 to 9 pm. Ms Goldberg speaks to all parents. She offers practical suggestions and using concrete tools demonstrates ways to help children get organized. She will discuss the impact organization has on a childâs ability to succeed in school and beyond.
Dr Marcia Eckerd will speak on Tuesday, May 19, from 7 to 9 pm, in the McManus Room of the Westport Library on âNonverbal Learning Disabilities: Understanding the Child Who Doesnât Fit In.â She will discuss the development, social, and academic impact this disability has on a child, as well as practical suggestions that can help at home and school.
CACLD is a regional nonprofit organization serving Connecticut and Westchester County. Founded by parents 42 years ago, its mission is to provide support and information to benefit children and adults with learning disabilities and attention deficits.
