DUI Charge

Police said that they responded to a report of a minor one-vehicle accident having occurred at 4 Riverside Road about 2:05 am on November 30.

Police said that after investigating, they charged motorist Megan Machado, 28, of West Haven with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.

Following processing, Machado was released on $100 bail for a December 17 court appearance.

Chevy Off Road

At about 1:35 pm on November 27, motorist Shana Kurzela, 16, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan eastward on Button Shop Road, east of its intersection with South Main Street, started to make a right turn on the wet pavement, but the vehicle began to slide, police report.

The Chevrolet then struck some curbing along the right side of the road and came to rest against a tree, police said.

Kurzela was not injured. Police said Kurzela received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Botsford Incident

Newtown police said they responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bear Hills Road and South Main Street at about 6 pm on November 26 in which the driver of a white SUV pulled out from Bear Hills Road, struck another vehicle and then drove off.

Newtown police said that the driver of the white SUV then drove into Monroe where he struck another vehicle and then drove off.

Newtown police said their investigation led them to 56 Bear Hills Road where they found the heavily damaged SUV and its driver Ronald Frate, Jr, 46, of that address. Newtown police said they charged Frate with evading responsibility, failure to grant the right of way, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Newtown police said Monroe police also charged Frate in connection with the collision in Monroe. Newtown police released Frate on $100 bail for a December 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Toyota Vs Pole

Police report that at about 12:52 pm on November 23, motorist Nayre Farrington, 39, of Bloomfield was driving a 2009 Toyota Matrix westward on Church Hill Road and then attempted to turn left onto southbound Main Street, but in doing so struck the Main Street flagpole.

Farrington was not injured. Police said Farrington received an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Device Found

On November 28, during the Turkey Trot road race, an Apple-brand iPod digital media player was found, police said. The owner may claim the device by identifying it at the police station at 3 Main Street.

Currituck Road

Motorist Steven Ghossaini, 17, of 113 South Main Street was driving a 1997 Honda Civic sedan eastward on Currituck Road, east of its intersection with Butterfield Road, when the auto struck some curbing and then came to rest against a stone wall at about 2:50 pm on November 23, police said.

Ghossaini was not injured. Police said they issued him an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Mt Pleasant Road

At about 4:20 pm on November 25, motorist Sheila Pierce, 63, of 67 Mt Pleasant Road was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Saw Mill Road, when the vehicle collided with two deer, police said. Pierce was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Incident

At about 7:25 pm on November 26, police responded to a report of a dispute at 18 Sunny View Terrace, after which they investigated and charged Eric Parmelee, 39, of that address with disorderly conduct and with third-degree criminal mischief, police said.

Police said they released him on a written promise to appear in court on December 6.

Hattertown Road

At about 9:40 pm on November 25, motorist Steven Tenney, 55, of 4 Chestnut Hill Road was driving a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV northward near 167 Hattertown Road when a deer ran onto the street and collided with the vehicle, police said. Tenney was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Hawleyville Collision

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Barnabas Road and Hawleyville Road about 7 pm on November 27.

Motorist Charles Baraw, 50, of 5 Cherry Street, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Passat station wagon westward on Barnabas Road, stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Hawleyville Road, police said.

Westbound motorist Robert Woodhouse, 60, of Danbury, who was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty SUV, then struck the rear end of the Volkswagen, police said.

There were no injuries. Woodhouse received a written warning for failure to travel a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Intersection Crash

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Hawleyville Road about 2:30 pm on November 26.

Motorist Lena Johanson, 56, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2005 Mini Cooper coupe, was waiting for a traffic signal on eastbound Mt Pleasant Road when the Mini Cooper was struck from behind by motorist Helen Dalton, 89, of 3 Nunnawauk Road, who was driving a 1997 Honda Accord sedan, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps checked both drivers at the scene, but did not make any transports, police said.

Police said they verbally warned Dalton for following too closely.

Honda Vs Ford

On November 26, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the hazardous intersection of Currituck Road and Parmalee Hill Road.

Police said they received reports on the accident from the drivers at the police station after the collision had occurred.

The accident involved motorist Joseph Pisacreta, 25, of 124 Head O’ Meadow Road, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic coupe, and motorist Anna Guaragno, 17, of 93 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2001 Ford Mustang convertible, according to police.

Police report their investigation determined that Pisacreta had failed to grant the right of way.

Sandy Hook Accident

At about 5 pm on November 27, a vehicular accident occurred near 25 Berkshire Road, police report.

Motorist Chello Solaperto, 18, of Worcester, Mass., who was driving a 2000 GMC Denali SUV, pulled out of the driveway at 25 Berkshire Road and collided with motorist James Maguire, 66, of 8 Watkins Drive, who was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said Solaperto received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Chevy Vs Volvo

Motorist Suzanne Gillis, 69, of South Hero, Vt., who was driving a 2004 Volvo station wagon westward on Church Hill Road, stopped for a stop sign at that street’s intersection with Main Street at about 3 pm on December 1, and was struck from behind by a motorist Harold Evans, 55, of 35 Jeremiah Road, who was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic auto, police said.

There were no injuries. Evans was verbally warned for following too closely, police said.

Wasserman Way

At about 1:39 am on December 3, police stopped motorist Son Nguyen, 29, of Waterbury for his travel speed while on Wasserman Way, near its intersection with Nunnawauk Road.

After investigating, police charged Nguyen with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license.

Nguyen was released on a written promise to appear in court on December 13.
