Burton L. Strid, Sr
Burton L. Strid, Sr, 80, of 56 Briar Ridge Road, Danbury, the husband of Pauline (Berlorit) Strid, died on July 14 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
 He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Towne, and her husband, Jack, of Sandy Hook.
Mr Strid, the youngest of ten children, was born in Danbury on January 22, 1920, a son of the late Charles A. and Anna (Carlson) Strid.
Early on in his life, upon the death of his parents, Mr Strid moved to New Milford to make his home with his fatherâs family. He attended New Milford schools and upon the age of 16 he returned to Danbury and attended Danbury schools.
In his early years, Mr Strid was a dairy farmer supplying local dairies, most especially Marcus Dairy. Later on, Mr Strid owned and operated a furniture delivery service as well as being a staff member of the former Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown.
He was a World War II US Army veteran.
In early years, Mr Strid was active in local sports and had played for various local teams. He enjoyed gardening, animals and horseback riding.
Mr Strid was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church of Danbury.
In addition to his spouse of 50 years and daughter, he is survived by a son, Burton L. Strid, Jr, and his wife Grace of Norfolk, Va., as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private.
