Community Programs

*Job Bank — Do you have an odd job you just do not have the time to do? Or maybe you have a job you have been putting off? Call NYFS’s Job Bank. Our Job Bank is assembled with multiple youths from the Newtown/Sandy Hook communities who have a passion for working. They can provide assistance with any jobs involving yard work, housework, babysitting, tutoring, animal care, among other odd jobs.

The Job Bank is open to young adults, ages 13 through 17, who are interested in helping others and gaining work experience. They submit applications and resumes, in addition to attending specific trainings and interviews to ensure you get quality help. So let them do a job for you. Contact our agency for more information.

*The American Red Cross CPR class will be offered Thursday, October 4, from 6 to 8 pm, and will cover cardiopulmonary resuscitation for infants, children, and adults. This course is great for all caregivers.

The American Red Cross First Aid class will be offered Thursday, October 11, from 6 to 8 pm, and will cover sudden illnesses, bleeding, burns, diabetes and environmental emergencies.

Events

*Crafters, vendors and homeowners are encouraged to contact NYFS to be included in the 27th Holiday Festival scheduled for Sunday, December 2. Besides the Nutcracker Ballet presented by Malenkee Ballet, the Victorian Tea sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank, and the Festival of Trees hosted by C.H. Booth library and various Girl Scout representatives, participants love the stroll along Main Street to visit the decorated homes.

NYFS is looking for homeowners who would allow designers and decorators to come work their magic in select rooms of their homes for tours. Homeowners must be within 2½ miles of Edmond Town Hall to participate. For more information contact Kaitlyn Johnson at 203 270-4335.

Vendors and crafters are encouraged to bring their talents and goodies to the Edmond Town Hall during the Holiday Festival. The vendor/crafter forms can be downloaded at www.newtownyouthandfamilyservices.org. Reserve your space now to ensure a prime location

All programs take place at NYFS, 15 Berkshire Road. For more information or to register call 203-270-4335.
