Edward M. Moroney, Sr, of Brookfield, beloved husband of Madeline M. (Hawkins) Moroney, died at Danbury Hospital on September 23.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edward M. Moroney, Jr, and his wife, Liz, of Sandy Hook and Timothy P. Moroney and his wife, Lisa, of Alpharetta, Ga.; and two daughters, Erinjeanne Moroney of Brookfield and Kerrilee Moroney-Klesh and her husband, Dana, of Brookfield; a sister, Elizabeth Moroney, CND, of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas Joseph Moroney of Pearl River, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren, Ryan Michael, Courtney Lynn, Morghan Elizabeth, Colten Edward, Kamdynn Elivia, Shane Michael, and Shaun Edward.

Mr Moroney was born in the Bronx, N.Y., son of John and Elizabeth (Ryan) Moroney. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School, the Bronx, and Iona College of New Rochelle, N.Y., with a BBA degree and Temple University, Philadelphia, with an MBA degree. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and had worked for the Duracell Company of Bethel, as the director of human resources, prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a member of St Joseph Church, Brookfield, the Bethel Chamber of Commerce, and was treasurer for NAFA. He was also an avid Yankee and Giants fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph Church on September 28. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
