Connecticut State Police (CSP) have released their holiday enforcement figures for December 23-26.

Connecticut State Troopers supplemented the normal patrol force with additional State Troopers over the Christmas Holiday weekend.

Troopers patrolled all roads and highways across Connecticut and focused on drunk driving violations and targeted aggressive drivers.

Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were in place over the entire weekend. State Police will continue this preventive enforcement effort until the end of the holiday season.

Between midnight December 23 and noon December 26, there were 301 speeding arrests reported; four seatbelt arrests; 601 hazardous moving violations (including unsafe lane change, following too close, cellphone use, fail to signal, etc); and 18 DUI arrests.

During that timeframe, state troopers investigated 249 accidents. Of that number, 28 were reported to have injuries resulting. There were no fatal accidents reported by CSP this Christmas holiday.

During the same time period last year, there were 502 speeding arrests reports, 43 seatbelt violations, 815 hazardous moving violations, and 41 DUIs. There were also 268 accidents, with 39 including injuries and two fatalities.

Holiday enforcement operation continues through midnight January 1, 2014.
