We will be closed September 1-7 during the computer changeover.
Effective immediately: Bring your library card to have it updated to the new system, or you will not be able to check out materials. Also please note that no holds or renewals can take place until we re-open on September 8.
*Book Sale Approaching: The 29th Annual Friends of Booth Library Labor Day Weekend Book Sale will run Saturday, September 4, until Wednesday, September 8, from 9 am to 5 pm at the Fairfield Hills campus. Choose from a selection of over 150,000 books in over 75 categories.
Admission charge for Saturday is $10 from 9 am until noon and $5 from noon until 5 pm. There is no admission charge for the rest of the sale.
On Monday all books will be half-price; Tuesday, all books will be available for $5 per bag; and all remainders will be free on Wednesday.
Refreshments will be available for purchase, so plan to spend a long time browsing and buying.
Adult Programs
*Book Groups in September: If youâre looking for a good read and some great discussion why not drop in on a book discussion group at the library this fall. Groups are always welcoming new members. Call the library if you have any questions.
The nonfiction group will meet on Tuesday, September 7, at 1 pm, to discuss Truman by David McCullough.
The daytime group will be talking about The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley on Monday, September 13, at 1 pm.
Also, the evening group will meet to talk about Salmon Rushdieâs Midnightâs Children on Thursday, September 16.
*Computer Classes: A hands-on introduction to computers designed for the true beginner will be offered on Saturday, September 11, from 9 am until noon. The class is free but you must pre-register if you would like to attend.
An intermediate class which covers more advanced Web issues including downloading files and saving pictures, as well as topics relating to email, will take place on Saturday, September 25, from 9 am to noon. This class has a fee of $10 and pre-registration is also required.
C.H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533. Summer hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Tuesday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Friday from noon to 5 pm. The library is closed on Sunday during the summer.
