In preparation for the 40th anniversary Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale, coming July 11-15 to Reed Intermediate School, an exhibit on view at C.H. Booth Library showcases a sample of what will be available at this year’s book sale/library fundraiser.

The exhibit, a collaboration between the library and Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, will be on display through June during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am-8 pm; Friday, 9:30 am-5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am-5 pm; and Sunday, 12-5 pm.

Last year, thanks to their annual five-day book sale, the Friends of the Booth Library contributed $115,000 to the library and sponsored activities and workshops for toddlers to adults.

This year’s event will again offer more than 120,000 pieces of media, from printed and audio books to DVDs, CDs, and LPs, with everything organized into 90 different categories. The Rare & Collectible Book Room will also be offered, which is a favorite for many book collectors.

Under the leadership of Denise Kaiser, 25 dedicated volunteers sort books throughout the year with more than 100 plus volunteers manning the book sale.

For additional information and a coupon for $2 off purchases made at the book sale on Saturday or Sunday, visit boothbooksale.org.

A display case outside the Children’s Department at C.H. Booth Library offers visitors a sampling of previous Friends of Booth Library Book Sale T-shirts, and a small sliver of the thousands of items that will be offered at this year’s 40th anniversary sale.
