Police Reports, January 3-12, 2016
Drug Charges
Police report that while on patrol at about 8:30 pm on January 6, they spotted a vehicle pull into the driveway at the state boat launch at 160 Hanover Road, after which its driver turned off the vehicle’s headlamps.
After investigating, police said they charged Bridget O’Donnell, 18, of 15 Oak Ridge Drive with possession of narcotics, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
After processing the case, police released O’Donnell on $100 bail for a January 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
South Main Collision
Police report that at about 3:52 pm on January 6, motorist Tyasia Gandy-Francis, 20, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2016 Hyundai Elantra auto southward on South Main Street, near Park Lane, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Jose Masis-Arias, 26, of Bridgeport, who was diving a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Masis-Arias a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Liberty Drive, about 5:17 pm on January 7, according to police.
Eastbound motorist Arturo Ortega, 75, of New Milford, who was driving a 1998 Ford Escort, stopped for traffic conditions, after which eastbound motorist Jorge Ortega, 54, of New Milford, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Murano SUV, stopped behind the Ford, police said.
Eastbound motorist John Wollich-Lindner, 47, of Oxford, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, then struck the rear end of the Nissan, pushing the Nissan into the rear end of the Ford, police said.
There were no injuries. Police report they issued Wollich-Lindner an infraction for following too closely.
SUV Crash
Motorist David Batista, 48, of Bridgeport was driving a 2005 Lincoln Navigator SUV carrying six passengers northward on Toddy Hill Road, near Surrey Trail, at about 4:50 pm on January 9, when an unknown southbound noncontact vehicle drove across the road’s centerline, police said.
The Lincoln then swerved to the right to avoid a collision, but it drove off the road, striking some guardposts and guardcables, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Batista for making a restricted turn.
Honda Vs GMC
At about 2:18 pm on January 6, motorist Marissa Russo, 17, of 12 Palestine Road, who was driving a 2015 Honda Accord auto on northbound South Main Street in the left-turn-only lane for Sugar Street, struck the rear end of a 2013 GMC Terrain SUV driven by Rachel Dicristina, 17, of 24 Ashford Lane, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Russo for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Hawleyville Collision
Police report that at about 2 pm on January 6, motorist Steven Reiss, 71, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, slowed in order to make a right turn into a shopping plaza at 147 Mt Pleasant Road.
Eastbound motorist Pamela Silva, 28, of Plainville, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue SUV, then attempted to pass the Jeep on the right, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said.
There were no injuries. Police report they issued Silva misdemeanor summons on charges of making a restricted turn, driving without automotive insurance, driving with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Silva is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on January 20 to answer the four charges, police said.
Accident At Flagpole Intersection
A two-vehicle accident occurred on westbound Church Hill Road, near the Main Street flagpole intersection, about 3:46 pm on January 9, according to police.
Police said that motorist Mary Elander, 62, of 6 Old Castle Hill Road, who was driving a 2013 Ford edge SUV, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Taylor Zingaro, 19, of 10 North Branch Road, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Zingaro for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
I-84 Crash
State police report that a Haverstraw, N.Y., woman was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant auto in the right lane on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, at about 2 pm on January 3, when a black German vehicle, possibly a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz, which had been traveling in the left lane, veered into the right lane, resulting in the Mitsubishi veering and then striking the guardrailing along the left side of the highway.
The New York woman was not injured. State police are investigating.
Pickup Vs SUV
Police said that motorist David Bergquist, 16, of Monroe, was driving a 2007 Ford Explorer SUV northward on Berkshire Road and approaching its intersection with Wasserman Way at about 7 am on January 7, when he stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Denise Romano, 47, of 7 Sugarloaf Road, who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet K-1500 pickup truck.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Romano for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Sandy Hook DUI
Police report that while on patrol about 9:47 pm on January 11, they detected a parked vehicle which had its engine running in the commuter parking lot at Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, after which they investigated.
Police said they charged motorist Robert Riley, 37, of 14 Osborn Hill Road with driving under the influence. After he posted $200 bail, police released Riley for a January 26 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
Burglary/Larceny
Police report that mid-afternoon on January 12, they received a report informing them of a possible burglary in progress at a house on Berkshire Road, near Bradley Lane, so they went there to investigate.
Police said they located a man on the property who had allegedly removed a painting from within the house. After investigating, police charged Christopher Isaacson, 57, of Ansonia with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal trespassing, and possession of burglary tools.
Following arrest processing on the criminal charges, police released Isaacson from custody on $10,000 bail for an arraignment on January 28 in Danbury Superior Court.
Maltbie Road
Police report that motorist Janice Mills, 61, of Norwalk was driving a 2006 Subaru Forester SUV eastward on Maltbie Road, near its intersection with Castle Meadow Road, at about 4:37 pm on January 12, when the vehicle drove off the right road shoulder and then struck some guardrailing.
There were no injuries. Police report they issued Mills a written warning for making a restricted turn.
