Eclipse Will Help Launch NCC’s Summer AWE Services

Newtown Congregational Church will begin its summer series of Alternative Worship Services (AWE) on Thursday, May 26. The twice monthly casual worship experience begins with a dinner in the church’s Great Room at 6 pm, followed by the spiritual and casual worship service at 7 in the sanctuary.

The summer AWE services will feature a number of guest musicians from the area. The musical guests on May 26 will be Eclipse.

Matt Wilkie, his twin sisters Helen Malyszka and Trish Keil, and Andy Lafreniere are the members of Eclipse. The Wilkie siblings were born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the trio performed throughout the country. In 1975 they moved to the United States where they performed acoustic music along the East Coast.

Andy Lafreniere joined the band in 1986, bringing his experience as an acoustic and electric guitarist as well as his skills as a composer and arranger.

Helen, Trish, and Andy have led the music ministry at St Rose of Lima Church for the last 11 years. For the past 25 years Helen and Andy have been co-owners and directors of The Suzuki Talent Education School in Sandy Hook, where they teach early music education programs as well as lessons in piano and classical guitar.

All are welcome. Newtown Congregational Church, at 14 West Street, can be reached at 203-426-9024.
