Richard W. Andrews III, son of Mr and Mrs Richard W. Andrews, Jr, received the Ancell School of Business Dean’s Award and the Wall Street Journal Award at Western Connecticut State University’s Honors Convocation ceremony on May 3. Richard is scheduled to graduate magna cum laude with honors with a bachelor of business administration degree and a major in finance, investment and capital markets, on May 23. After graduation, Richard will be employed as a financial services representative for Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services.

Michelle Regina Serock graduated cum laude during a recent ceremony at Northeastern University, Boston, with a degree in behavioral neuroscience.

Sarah Louise Truckle, daughter of Phill and Alison Truckle, formerly of Newtown, graduated on May 15 from Johnson State College, Johnson, Vt., with honors and a double major in business management and political science as well as a certification in nonprofit management. She plans to attend law school in the fall of 2010.

In Providence, R.I., Christopher Giorno and Brendan Kelly received undergraduate degrees from Providence College during the college’s 92nd Commencement Exercises held Sunday, May 16. Christopher graduated with a bachelor of arts in general studies and Brendan earned a bachelor of arts degree in English.

Louis Joseph Ritzinger received the Hampton Davey Award at St Mary’s College of Maryland on April 24, when the college held its annual awards convocation ceremony.

Newtown students recently earned third quarter honor roll placement at Lauralton Hall in Milford. Earning high honors were sophomore Nicole Lang; juniors Megan Murphy and Katherine Sirokyl. Earning honors were sophomore Mary Siroky and senior Chelsea Boggs.

Elizabeth Rodbell of Sandy Hook received a bachelor of science degree in ballet, with an outside field study of political science, from The Jacob School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, on May 8. Elizabeth, 20, graduated in three years, and has an internship at the Miami City Ballet.

Raquefette Kilchevsky, daughter of Laurie and Eitan Kilchevsky, earned a master of arts degree for teaching English to speakers of other languages from Tel Aviv University in Israel, on March 15. Ms Kilchevsky graduated from Newtown High School eight years ago and is currently teaching first and second grade students in Tel Aviv.

Lisa Marie Alberico, John Francis Blawie of Sandy Hook, Amanda Marie Black of Sandy Hook, who graduated cum laude, and Kacy Lynn Foehrenbach of Sandy Hook graduated from Keene State College, Keene, N.H., during a commencement ceremony on May 8.

St Joseph High School in Trumbull recently released the names of Newtown and Sandy Hook residents who received honors at the close of the third marking period at the school. Ninth grader Kiersten Lynch and tenth graders Jessica Jowdy and Mary Meier were named to the President’s Honor Roll. Students named to the Principal’s Honor Roll were ninth grader Sheila Smith; tenth graders Kelly Brooks, Tara Dawley, Daniel Gallagher, and John Imbimbo; eleventh graders Joni Kondas and Nicole Nonnenmacher; and twelfth graders Craig Baldino and Megan Meier.
