Parks & Rec Summer Concert Series Posted
The performers for the 2014 Summer Concert Series, hosted by Newtown Parks & Recreation and sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank, have been posted on the Parks & Rec website.
The 6th annual concert will return to the bandstand at Dickinson Memorial Park, 50 Elm Street. All shows will begin at 6:30 and end around 8 pm.
The performances are free of charge, and suitable for all ages. Attendees need to bring their own chair or blankets for seating.
Shows will begin on June 26 with My Dad’s Truck. The series will skip July 3 due to the Independence Day holiday, but return on July 10 with Hadron Big Bangers and continue weekly as follows: July 17, The Wonderful Trio; and July 24, Marybeth Sippin and The Goldrush Band.
There is no show scheduled for July 31, but the series will resume on August 7 with a performance by Off The Hook. It continues on August 14 with Jay Willie Blues Band and then wraps for the summer on August 21 with a performance by The Frank Porto Band.
Concerts have traditionally been done light rain or shine. They are relocated to the park pavilion in the event of light rain, but are cancelled in heavy rain or storms. Parks & Rec posts announcements, as does The Newtown Bee, in the event of postponement or cancellations.
