'Within Our Reach:' Newtown Youth Voices, Peter Yarrow, Et Al In Song And Spoken Word

On Sunday afternoon, November 23, “Within Our Reach — A Celebration Of Our Commitment To Fulfilling The Sandy Hook Promise,” will broadcast live from Newtown Congregational Church on WPKN (89.5 FM) and WXCI (91.7).
WMNR (88.1 FM) will rebroadcast the event at 9 pm that evening.
Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary), poet Martin Espada, The Old Town Hall Band, and many special guests will join Newtown Youth Voices to share song and spoken word as they invite thousands of listeners to make The Sandy Hook Promise.
Doors at the church, 14 West Street, will open at 2 pm. The program will begin at 3 pm, includes a 20 minute intermission for coffee and cider at 4 pm, and will conclude at 4:45.
The event is free and open to the public. Seats currently remaining (about 100) will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A freewill donation in any amount can be made at the door. For complete details visit www.withinourreach.us.
The National Cathedral in Washington, DC, and Grace Cathedral in San Francisco are dedicating their ringing of bells that day to Sandy Hook Promise in conjunction with the broadcast.
“On the brink of the holiday season we wish to strike a powerful note of hope, love, and healing,” said Jim Allyn, director of Newtown Youth Voices. “Local community radio is an ideal way to share this message and we are very excited and grateful to be working with WPKN, WXCI, and WMNR this year.”
