Drug Charges Lodged Against Two High School Students
Two 16-year-old Newtown High School students were charged with drug offenses
at the school September 1, police said.
Police said they were called to the school at about 1:30 pm to respond to a
disturbance.
Police said the school's security guard had found a green cannabis-type
substance and rolling papers on Shawn Rosenthal of 13 Gopher Road. Police
charged him with illegal possession of less than four ounces of a
cannabis-type substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Stephen D. Karolczuk of 5 Walker Hill Road, Sandy Hook, was found
to possess a switch knife, a green cannabis-type substance, rolling papers and
a controlled substance. Police charged him with carrying a dangerous weapon,
illegal possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of less than
four ounces of a cannabis-type substance, and possession of drug
paraphernalia.
After processing at the police station, both youths were released on written
promises to appear September 9 in Danbury Superior Court.
