Newtown Middle School art teacher Leigh Anne Coles oversaw this summer's Graphics Camp through Continuing Education at Newtown High School, which began July 5 and was scheduled through July 15.

The camp was offered for students in fifth to eighth grade. According to a description for the camp, it taught students the basics of Adobe Illustrator.

Ms Coles said on Wednesday, July 6, she thought offering the Graphics Camp over the summer was a good way to help students "get their toes wet," ahead of attending high school.

Rising eighth grade student Nancy Chung said the students were working on outlining a pattern for a dress, which helped them learn how to use an Adobe Illustrator tool.

Ava Schwartz, a rising eighth grade student, said her favorite project, so far during the week, was recreating App logos.

"I like the class because I have never been able to use software like this at home," said Eliza Roth, another rising eighth grade student in the camp.

Malcom Zimmerman, a rising sixth grade student, said he thought the camp was, "Great." Fellow rising sixth grade student Jackson Chiappetta agreed.

"I think it's really fun and it is great," said Jackson.
