SMART (Summer Music and Art) Camp kicked off its second session July 18, for another two weeks where children's creativity comes to fruition at Head O' Meadow Elementary School.Further information about Newtown Continuing Education programs is available by calling 203-426-1787, or on its website, newtowncontinuinged.org.

SMART Camp, overseen by Newtown Continuing Education, offers programs centered on music, art, and science for more than 80 children exiting kindergarten through sixth grade, Program Coordinator Stephanie Schwartz said.

Ms Schwartz said the second session does not vary too much from the first session, but there is an addition of one new program: Exploring Latin America Through Art.

Sarah Riccio, the instructor of the program and an incoming sophomore studying Spanish at Sacred Heart University, said she wanted to start up the program to teach children about the interesting culture of Latin America. She added that the program features music, art projects, and food from the region.

"Everything is really good," Ms Schwartz said about the second session. "We're off to a good start."

Other classes offered, according to Newtown Continuing Education, include Jewelry Design, Basketry, Icky Sticky Ooey Gooey Chemistry, The Great Clay Adventure, and Learning Español.
