RSVP Volunteers Thanked
RSVP Volunteers Thanked
To the Editor:
In honor of 2006 National Volunteer Week (April 23â29), we want to say âthank youâ to the more than 500 RSVP volunteers in Northern Fairfield County.
The mission of RSVP is to reinvest the knowledge, talents, and skills of persons 55 years and older into the community through volunteer activities. RSVP volunteers from Danbury, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Ridgefield, Bethel, Newtown, Redding, New Milford, and Sherman serve more than 70 nonprofit organizations, public agencies, schools, and faith based groups in their communities. Their combined efforts provide medical transportation and meals to the homebound elderly. They support literacy programs, companionship and outreach, and comfort items to the sick and those in need. They offer an array of services that support disaster preparedness and health and safety programs. A special thank you goes out to those of you who are celebrating 10, 20, and 30 years of service!
It is through the efforts of these fine dedicated individuals that we can say âRSVP is the bridge between those who need and those who give.â We are proud of the exemplary service you bring to RSVP and to your community.
Sincerely,
Ellen Melville, RSVP Director
